August -15...more or less...

The rodder is slowly taking form

But let´s go back in time …to summer 2015 when the first hull is being put together, the left. I mean, the port side.

17 Sommar -15

It was strange and nervous months. So many strong forces where involved. For example when P had to separate/open the two sides. Cracking…fissuring.. And then close them… strange sounds… reluctantly!
And then… turn her around…! More than once…

All by himself, using brain and ingenuity to find all different techniques and to solve all upcoming problems.

The first turning around made me cry. Tossan hanging from the roof. About 1,3 ton. Slowly…slowly…knirk knark…I was so afraid! Puff…
(When it was starboardTossan´s turn I felt more calm and of course, P also had more experience and knew better what to do.)

13 april-2015

Tossan 13 april-15

This is how Tossan looked in her very beginning without even being the first hull. Two sides still remain to be made before P can start to put them together.

Sometimes the chaos seems to be apparently huge but…

Tossan 14 litet kaos

…it is just an illusion. P has perfect control over everything. (hmmmm….almost)
In order to be able to build a catamaran you also need to be an inventive person and sometimes it is necessary to be extra inventive.

Here P is testing the strength of the beam, (a modell) that shall go upside down inside the wings.

Tossan 15 vikter

These weights are really cute! Something for the fitness center perhaps?
I have started, for the first time in my life, to go to the gym! It seems very necessary to have strong muscles for life on board, even if we won´t have to handle amounts of heavy sails.

A new year

So, as our dinghy Maia just arrived from Amsterdam, we decided to make a brindis (spanish word) for this new year 2017: Cheers!

Nyår 2017

There is still "some time" left before we can sail away. It is good because then I have time to get used to it. I have no clue about how it will be as I have never sailed! But it will be a wonderful experience, a good way to spend our time as pensioners.
By the way, I will not write about the "growing" Tossan strictly in sequence.
Today for example, P has progressed with the first of the rudders:

He needs to do a lot of brainwork in order to invent how everything shall be constructed to fit together. Small and big miracles every day!

How much material will be needed?

Tossan 9

Yesterday I asked P how much of "basic" materials like epoxy, plywood, fibreglass and core materials will be needed for Tossan in order to come into existence. Here comes the list:
Plywood 5 ton
(5? That does not sound so much. 5000 kilos looks better.)
Epoxy 1,5 ton
Fibreglass 500 kilos
Core material 5 cubic meters

Well, I just cannot resist the temptation to show a picture from Tossan´s very first trip from the tent to her next "home",
the 29th of july 2016.
An exception!
